How it works. Each day, blobs leave home and look for food. The green dots above a blob show how much food it's carrying. The colored ring around a blob shows its remaining energy (white → yellow → red). At the end of the day: eating 0 food = die (unless Fat reserves carry it through); eating 1 food = survive; eating enough to hit the Repro slider = a chance at a baby (with small random mutations — that's evolution). The chance of actually producing offspring equals the blob's remaining energy when it gets home — so blobs that burn out chasing food may survive but fail to reproduce. Blobs that don't make it home before running out of energy also die. Energy cost has four independent parts: size³ (just being big) + speed³ (moving fast — running power) + vision (looking around) + fat (maintaining reserves). Watch the ⚡ Energy budget readout on each species. Each species has a diet: herbivore (food only), omnivore (food and smaller blobs), or predator (smaller blobs only — starves if no prey). Hunters lead their target — they aim where the prey will be, not where it is now. Hunters can only eat blobs of other species at least 1.2× smaller than themselves. Home is a safe zone. The Fat slider sets how many no-food days a blob can survive (fractional values give a % chance to survive the extra day); fat tissue evolves like other traits but adds metabolic cost. The Dens slider gives a species multiple home corners — spreads the species across the map, makes a bad starting position less likely to wipe it out. Dim blobs are hungry (currently burning fat reserve). Patchy food clusters food at fixed watering holes (the soft green spots); blobs herd toward them. Thickets (filled green refuges) block predators and omnivores entirely — herbivores forage inside safely. Trait drift indicators: the dashed white ring on each blob shows its species' baseline size (body extending past = grew bigger); the faint dashed outer ring shows baseline vision; the white speed bar inside the blob has a black dot at baseline speed (bar past the dot = faster than its kind).
